Arsani Monastery

The earliest known connection with Arsani Monastery refers back to a letter dated 1601. Built in 1888 the church of Agios Georgios is a cruciform, domed basilica. Within, it reveals the most fabulous display of Fresco's and Icons. It had been built on the foundations of a church prior to this one and an inscription dated 1645 on one of the windows had been discovered.

This Monastery had sheltered resistance fighters during World War II.

This Monastery today maintains a sizeable museum displaying books, vestments and other ecclesiastical objects.
